Remove spyware
Is your computer running slower than usual? Are you worried that someone can access your computer and steal your personal information and use it against you? Therefore, this is what I have experienced in the past.
Some time back, my 3 years old computer is running slow, so I have to buy a new computer. Or at least I think I need a new computer. In a week surfing the Internet on my new computer, it also started to run so slowly. In addition, some programs will not run properly on my computer, and I can not recognize some of the programs running on my computer. I fear that the most. How did those program or computer program be there when I do not remember installing them? I know I have to find answers and solutions quickly.
The truth, we can leave it that way, but very few of us want others to have access to information in our computer. However, this can happen when spyware or malware is loaded on our computers without our knowledge.
Quoted from spyware Nuker website, “Spyware applications are programs and files that hide on your PC’s hard drive without your direct knowledge. These programs allow hackers and advertising companies to track your every move, both online and even when you work offline. They can track the websites you visit, the items that you buy online, the emails you send and receive, your Instant Message dialog, and worst of all they can even record your credit card number, personal identification numbers, and all of your passwords. If you use dial-up to connect to the Internet then spyware can be used to bill 900 numbers to your phone bill. This is just a short list of the harm that spyware can cause.”
The Website also provides statistics show that spyware is a major problem effecting many people. “27.3 million United States have been victims of identity theft in the last five years, including 9.91 million people or 4.6% of the population in the last year alone.”
In addition, it is very easy for your computer to become infected with spyware as a “majority of all the download games, music, screensavers, and more, you can infect your computer with spyware or adware. Most people do not know that just click on a random” pop up “ads, their computer may be infected with spyware or adware.”
No matter how we get spyware, here are 10 reasons why you do not want spyware on your computer.
1. Your computer may start running slower
2. Some of the programs on your computer will not run properly
3. You can not identify the programs on your computer now, because they may have been installed there by a web site associated with spyware, or programs that load on your computer.
In addition, you may be concerned that:
4. Someone may be able to read your e-mail
5. Someone can access your e-mail list
6. One can see that type of monitor you KEYSTROKES
7. Someone can access your credit card information on the pc
8. One can access the password list in your computer
9. Someone may be able to steal your social security number
10. A person can be tracked all the web sites you visit
As I mentioned, most of these programs can get on your computer without you knowing it, but the other part is frustrating I know some of these programs because I remember the installing and uninstalling them! So now I know that when we install some simple little tool to track passwords online or programs to help e-mail or track the weather, although we uninstall them, they should be missing from the computer. However, they are still in our computer, waiting to spy on us, at least.

Firstly a very basic description of what spyware and viruses are and what they do is appropriate.
Spyware is best slotted into two categories, the nuisance category and the category that can seriously compromise the security of information stored on your PC. A lot of internet fraud and identity theft is as a result of active spyware on your PC and the uncanny thing is that many PC users are unaware that they are infected.
Viruses are more sinister. They can be extremely harmful to your computer and tend to be passed in to your PC by the users own ignorance/naiveté – yes folks I’m sorry to say but most viruses are in there as a result of the PC users ignorance!
A very common entry method is by dodgy emails being opened or downloads of ‘freebies’. A common source of viruses and Trojans are P2P download sites – so beware all you gamers and music buffs – you could be downloading a lot more than you bargained for!
How would I know that I have spyware or a virus?
Spyware usually becomes evident where your PC is not behaving the way it should. It could be running very slow, crashing for no apparent reason and even freezing up. In addition one of the most common visible signs are extremely annoying pop ups (some of them you wouldn’t want your children to read or see!)
If you have one or more of these symptoms then it’s likely you have an infection.
A currently popular method of downloading spyware into your PC without you realising it is utilising a third party toolbar usually from a source you don’t know but seems to provide you with all sorts of short cuts – be very very wary of these and if you do use one make sure it’s from a trusted source!
Viruses are more insidious, especially Trojans which can lie dormant in your registry until you perform some action or a specific date arrives and then you or the people you email will certainly know about it!
The usual give-away signs are similar to spyware but their presence is often more subtle and the most common viral attacks have been email associated so the general rule about having a decent operable spam filter is essential to block them should be applied.
If I suspect I have a virus or Spyware – What do I do?
The first thing is to do a scan with a reputable spyware/adware remover. Not all current branded virus software will pick up a lot of spyware because a lot of spyware is there from the users own invitation and not harmful to the operation of the PC – so a lot of files get ‘over-looked’ rather than missed.
Unfortunately I did not appreciate the difference until I had my PC badly infected – but you live and you learn as the saying goes.
There are quite a few software packages out there that will let you scan your system for free and then will charge a lifetime membership fee for protection. Most decent ones should cost no more than about $35 and there are plenty to choose from.
Quite a few of them are free and very good but leave it up to you to work out how to get rid of an infection.
There are other virus and spyware removal programs which as I just said charge a fee and provide good information on how to ‘fix’ the problem.
